In common with many people I had high cholesterol but my doctor told me he didn't believe in treating it with drugs because they are a waste of time and money. Later I saw this article in a British newspaper:
I made small changes to my diet, lost some weight and started exercise. In particular I make sure I eat fruit containing pectin as this can reduce blood cholesterol levels by 20% which is the average that drugs manage. Eating the equivalent of two apples a day gives the right amount of pectin. I believe you can also buy pectin powder from some health stores. I have also read that soya been protein is effective.
My diet was always quite good and I didn't eat refined Sugar or carbohydrates. In my case it was either the changes to my diet, the exercise, decongesting my biliary system or, more likely a combination of all three that was responsible. My levels fell by about 25%.
If you google the drug name you will find commercial links to so called natural products. There is so much misleading information about cholesterol so be careful what you read.
