I'm sorry you are having all this trouble in spite of taking the recommended suppressive dose of acyclovir. Is it possible for you to try valtrex or famvir and see if it works better for you? I went from acyclovir, which was helpful, to famvir and noticed even better results, although I'll be the first to admit that my improvement may well have been due to the "usually gets better with time" factor, too.
There are some strains of herpes that are called TK-resistant which don't respond to the usual antivirals. Perhaps that's what's going on with your situation, although they represent much less than 1% of the herpes infections.
