Re: Some more sites referring to oil-pulling

"In Ayurvedic Medicine, this therapy is called Gandusa. This therapy is only meant to draw toxins and pathogens from the sinus cavity, throat, mouth, and somewhat the ears. It is recommended to rinse the mouth with warm salty water after this therapy. The only oil traditionally used is Sesame Oil. However, Sunflower Oil is one of the only other Vegetable oils not prohibited for ingestion. Olive is considered OK if cold-pressed, virgin. The recommendation for cold pressed only is important. Truly cold pressed oil is not exposed to anything that will denature the oil. It is recommended that for increased absorption in oil therapies, the oil be cured. This consists of heating the oil to 220 degrees F., via low flame, and cutting the flame immediately upon reaching 220. The oil can be stored for 6 months and still be viable. Cold Pressed unheated Sesame oil will last longer, and will still do the trick, but the above is optimal according to ayurveda. I have only used the unheated so far. ANY vegetable or seed oil that is not produced strictly in this way is refined and thus heated to a point where it is rendered TOXIC for ingestion. This will require healing energies and transmutation. There are many other oils on the market today that are produced using modern techniques which utilize low temperatures and are bottled to prevent oxidation. Flax Oil, Pumpkin seed, borage, primrose, to name a few. Flora brand, Spectrum Naturals, and a couple others. Safe for regular ingestion under supervision only as they are very potent medicinals. The only thing that commercial refining does to an oil is remove impurities. Organic seeds that are cold pressed have no need of refining, but often are due to marketing standards. This renders them TOXIC for INGESTION. The study by Dr. Garach used Refined Sunflower Oil. Thus it was heated (cured) and was must have still been absorbable for the purpose of the mouth rinse. Also Sunflower is the only other oil used in Ayurveda for 5000 years for a reason. (Good vibes). Just dont ingest refined Sunflower Oil. Sesame Oil is the staple ayurvedic oil for all sorts of therapies for the whole body. It is balancing to all body types. "
