Mirena... what a mess

about two years ago, I got the Mirena IUD placed after I had my daughter. The insertion process was extremely painful. In fact, next to child birth itself, it was the mose painful experience that I have ever had. My doctor did not tell me that I needed to come in about 4-6 weeks after he put the IUD in so I didn't go to get it checked. Being a new mom, I forgot to go in at my one year annual, so I didn't get into the doctor's office until the end of December, nearly two years later. Well, what was supposed to be a standard annual exam turned into anything but standard. My doctor was not able to find my IUD so we did an ultrasound and he was not able to see it in the uterus. He then decided to send me over to X-ray so we could find out where the heck my IUD was. Well, come to find out, my IUD was out of my uterus and up by my liver! I was advised I was going to have to have surgery that afternoon. What I did not realize was how much pain I was in that was a result of the IUD. Over the last year, I had what I thought was gallbladder pain (we have a family history of it). But now I know that the pain I was having was a result of the IUD. I also did not realize that Depression and physical pain was side effects of the IUD. It wasn't in the patient information that I got when I got the IUD inserted. I would like to know others that have had similar experiences and if anyone knows if there are any lawsuits against the company. Tell me what you know....
