Re: Freudian slips when tired? Absolutely!
Interesting thought, 48688.
Around here, that's when we get out the big dictionary, or seek the meaning on the net.
The misunderstood word, these days, is quite likely to be a hiccup of translation...'then' to 'than', and back...or 'loose' to 'lose'...and other just plain typos where one has to guess what the writer really meant. The word 'be' is often missing, and others...as though the person was going too fast and didn't proof read, and the word 'too' is shortened to 'to'.
Every abbreviation is a call to stop, and be sure one has the correct translation, and IT words may be common knowledge in your circle and gibberish to millions.
Of course, falling asleep in front of the computer screen, when forcing out one last paragraph before bedtime, can be the funniest of all. I've trained myself out of long lines c's or l's...thank goodness.
And then there is trying to figure how to answer the telephone with the TV clicker, or even the hand-held telephone itself.

Of course, there is nothing like 'medical-ese' to keep one in the dark, or much of what the government has to say in the new-speak. One fellow who showed them how, has apologized, publically.
