IMO, a worthwhile cause..don't read if requests for charitable donations offend you!!!
from an e-mail I received today:
Thank you for signing the online petition to Congress in support of the Professionals' Statement to End Water Fluoridation.
As we approach the New Year, we at the Fluoride Action Network (FAN) would like to take a moment to update you on the current status of our campaign and to solicit your financial support. As you'll see, 2008 is promising to be an exciting year in the fluoride campaign.
Our strategy has been a two-pronged effort. On one hand, FAN has been actively seeking involvement from medical and environmental health professionals. The number of health experts signing the Professionals' Statement to End Fluoridation has doubled in size since August and now exceeds 1,200, including a Nobel Laureate in Medicine, 3 scientists from the prestigious National Research Council review on fluoride, and some of the world's leading environmental health advocates.
Part II of our strategy has been to mobilize citizens to write their Congressional reps asking them to act on the recommendations of the Professionals' Statement. Thus far, you and over 6,200 others have heeded the call and taken action.
With the prospect of Congressional hearings on the horizon, we believe that 2008 will be a critical year for us. As detailed in the Professionals' Statement, the key scientific breakthroughs have already been made. We now need to convert this into a political breakthrough. We can only do this by educating more members of the public, the scientific community, and ultimately members of Congress. This all takes money.
In order to have the funds necessary to wage and win the battles in 2008, we are aiming to raise $40,000 by midnight on New Year's Eve. As of December 28th, we've already raised an impressive $28,000, but we'll need to raise another $12,000 in just under 3 days. Can we do it? Only with your support.
Fluoride Action Network is working tirelessly on your behalf to remove fluoride from tap water, processed foods, and pesticides. Your support keeps us going.
