Pork Tapeworms

I have just been diagnosed with a pork tapeworm.........how gross!!!!!!! I have been given 3 different supplements to treat this. I was under the impression that you had to take supplements for a certain amount of time, then take a break and then start again, due to the cycle of the eggs. Is this not true for tapeworms? Also, is there something specifically designed to kill tapeworms? I'm wondering if I should ask my m.d. for a prescription. I know they are hard to kill and I want to get rid of this thing. Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
