Good questions.

Question. If sunflowers have such a powerful effect pulling metals from soils, could they have the same neutralizing effect on a human body?

From a vedic stand point, sunflowers are very helpful, would have no way to confirm this, but I have a hunch it could help. It is known with theraputic grade essential oils, if you apply to the feet, they are immdiatly absorbed and distributed throughout the whole body in seconds. So if someone does not like a particular smell or the smell may be to much for others to tolerate, then an application to the feet will render very good results without causing anyone to boast about having to smell such wonderful oils. After the application to the feet many people can even taste a little of that oil on their tongue, so this is one more reason to stay away from petro chemical synthetic oils, and if some happens to be a mechanic, ample protection is a good idea, because so many are exposed to such oils already and the harmful effects of those oils playing around with the estrogen receptor sites and causeing much confusion on a cellular level, it is good to know, some theraputic grade essential oils such as thyme, basil, oregano etc have abilities to clean out those receptor sites so the body may again perform as it should. signing up with youngliving.com #407126 is free, so if you want unquestionable pure oils this is the route to go, I use other edible oils (in addition to theraputic oils) to include coconut and ghee which have superior healing abilities. By the way, no radiation has ever been found to enter coconuts and filtered coconut water has been used for IV's. Far out.


The reason I ask, is that we are practicing oil pulling, the process of swishing sunflower oil in our mouth, and spitting it out.

In the vedas it is common practice to use a tongue scrapper in the morning to remove excess toxins and bacteria that are collected on the tongue. I have no way to confirm the swishing of sunflower oil, but I would bet it would be much better than using those toxic mouthwash rinses any day. If you try it out, let me know how it turns out.

Something else that is done in the ayurveda is oil bathing,.. you lay down on a table and pure oils are constantly being poured over you, the oils fall to a container and are recycled to pour over you again for a half hour or so.


I'm wondering if sunflower has a natural metal detox with the human body.

At one point Charu put some links up for the sunflower and mustard plants, most of that literature came from locations in the Chernobyl area after the explosion of the nuclear facility. That land there was very toxic, but soon they were noticing the areas were these plants were still somehow able to grow and not only that, the radiation levels were dropping considerably, so some tests were done on the plants and they found Huge amounts of the heavy metals absorbed in the roots of those plants. Projects are being done to plant, weed, and replant those areas to make them safe again. The process is quicker than letting the rains and water carry those heavy metals deeper and deeper into Earth, and it would avoid contaminating the water supplies.
