Making Collodial silver water

I am about to obtain a roll of jeweler's silver and some batteries and alligator clips. My parents used to make Collodial Silver, perhaps 30 years ago.

What is the procedure/recipe for making it? How long do you leave it hooked up and how much do you make at a time. I've read here that its best to store it in dark glass containers in the refrigerator - how long does it keep? How much do you take per day?
