*edit* Castor Oil pack - instructions

I wonder what kind of process was used for the cator oil described in the book you summed up

Cold pressed.

The book has been reprinted in recent years, but the information in it was originally authored at least 30 years ago.

At a local health store, I bought a brand of cold pressed organic castor oil in an 8 oz bottle, and the same brand also offers a kit that is nothing more than a plastic package with a section of white flannel wool - approximately 18 inches by 24 inches - and the package includes the basic instructions for preparing and using the oil pak. I checked to see if the brand name has a web site. I found a web site that uses the same name but to tell you the truth, I cannot tell if this web site company is the same as the company that produced the bottle of oil and cloth kit. Anyway, I did some more searches and found two offering both the same brand of oil I have as well as the flannel kit. Maybe they will ship international.....cross your fingers :)

Note, since I first started this thread, I've now been trying the Castor Oil Pak, having applied it several nights now. The first night is a little tricky because this is when you need to first get the flannel soaked. I was trying to be careful so as not to waste too much oil. By the way, castor oil is pretty thick as far as oil goes... just a little bit looser than molasses. I estimate that it took approximately 5 ounces (just a little over half the bottle) to get the cloth saturated, and no oil was wasted. After use I put the cloth in a sealable plastic bag, then put that bag in a sealable large jar, then put the jar in a cool, dark place until next time.
