Yesterday, I had the Mirena removed by my gynecologist. She wasn't reluctant to do as I asked but she is surprised to hear of the issues I've been having. She wants to know if all my symptoms clear up with removal as she does prescribe a lot of them.
Removal is completely painless and anyone thinking of having it removed shouldn't worry. It's about the same as a pap test. You really don't have much sensation of anything.
Now I will document my symptoms daily and see what transpires. I have been documenting them since all of them started in July so if they all begin to diminish I think there is little doubt that the Mirean is to blame. I'm not entirely convinced it is the IUD, but I take no other medication of any kind and they arrived out of the blue. I'd like to get back to enjoying life, going to the gym. not worrying about my heart and blood pressure and just feeling like an ordinary 40 something - not a 60 something. Maybe what I am experiencing is just menopause, but I had no symptoms like this until the IUD was inserted. I am going to miss the absence of my period, though. Man, I loved that part. :)
