Why even bother asking, Sugar is the poison that everyone should avoid. If you have to have sweet things, substitute Sugar with Stevia and you will soon get used to using this vs. sugar.

The answer to your question is, yes. I do not know about change in hormone, but there is big effect from Sugar intake. I have not had sugar for a long time, once in a blue moon I cheat. Last month we had three birthdays in our office at the same time, the big boss bought a cake, we all had it, I had only one small piece, it reached my stomach and I felt this flush on my back, spine neck and my head. My eyes felt like they will pop out. So there you go sugar can do a lot of things that we do not even notice but harms us.

There are many sources of sweetners, fig, dates, sugar cane itself, agave etc.
