How right you are that this is not a simple debate like whether the stones from a liver flush are real stones or globs of hardened olive oil.  Woopee doo!  That's right, these are the lives of children, lives that are affected to a greater or lesser degree for as long as they're alive.   And then some people offer their snide 'proof' as if it was just a game of one upmanship at chess.     Grrrrrr!!    I'm a very strong proponent of free speech and the right to all opinions, but I have a very hard time accomodating this particular one in light of the consequences I have experienced personally, and in the lives of others I've known in the same situation.
