I have been very pleased with Mirena so far. For all those women that have been scared off from these posts, please remember that satisfied people very rarely post their approval of a product. Bad news always travels faster than good news. I'm not saying that all these women haven't had the symptoms they describe and I feel very badly for everyone that has suffered any pain from this birth control. I'm only saying that you should consider your options and keep your mind open. I had some muscle aches and twinges in my back and after reading these posts was convinced it was Mirena. Then I remembered that I had exercised especially hard on my back and shoulders a couple of days prior. The pain went away with rest and hasn't returned. I also had a couple of migraines but that was under stress when I commonly have headaches. For those people that have gained weight, I would have your thyroid checked and exercise a little bit more until your body becomes accustomed to the hormonal levels. The weight gain I encountered was brief and was most likely water weight. After a couple of weeks I was back to normal and had lost a couple of extra pounds. I have had no pain during sexual activity and not to be too personal but we are able to enjoy ourselves better knowing there is such a slight risk of pregnancy.

Like I said just keep your mind open and consider this as an option after talking with your doctor. They don't get paid any more by prescribing Mirena than they do with any other drug. That would be illegal and after 12 years of schooling I'm sure none of them are willing to put their jobs and reuptations on the line for an IUC. And, for those skeptics that think I probably work for the company that manufactures Mirena (actually I don't even know their name), I am a certified public accountant (CPA) with a national life insurance company and have nothing at all to do with pharmaceutical companies. For those of you that would like to ask me questions, I have my account setup to receive notification whenever a new message is posted in this thread and I will try to respond to them as I can.

Good luck to all and for those who are feeling ill or having problems I really hope you feel better soon. God bless!
