What's the significance of the pi number?

Hello,

For a number of years whenever I look at the clock I always get 3:14 which also represents the pi number. What's the significance of this coincidence. I can't seem to put a finger on this myself. I know that others saw also 11:11 in various instances. But what about 3:14?
