I can only make a couple of suggestions. First of all, no meat or other high protein foods. Limit or eliminate grains and dairy. Eat brightly colored fruits and vegetables. Perhaps most importantly, get some tart cherry juice and drink all he can. Do not use sweetened juice, Sugar increases inflammation. Use Stevia to sweeten if necessary. If you can't find the juice, buy some unsweetened tart pie cherries. Drink enough water so the body can eliminate uric acid so it won't build up. Some say vinegar and honey drinks will help break down the build up of acid crystals in the joint.
I am not an expert, but I used to work for a man who suffered from gout. I found these suggestions, but he would not listen, his doctor could not help him and he still suffers.
As time goes on eat a low protein diet with limited meat and animal products, use cherry juice or cherries every day, use the cider vinegar and honey drink, do some kidney cleanses to open up their ability to eliminate.
