the pear

A pear was found and given to a man. Then another man came by looking around.
When asked, it was discovered he was looking for the pear.
I looked at the man who had been given the pear. He had his back to the other man,
but I could see him from the side. He lifted the pear to his mouth and took a bite.
I was sure he'd heard the conversation and thought, "He did that on purpose!"
