Re: well here's another one! synchroncity # 5
I was house sitting for a week, and on the last day, in the morning, the word "Volga" popped into my head! I couldn't figure out why, and said out loud, "Volga. Olga?" As I was getting out of the shower, I heard someone come in the house when I wasn't expecting anyone. I wasn't frightned, and I called out, "Who's there?" A woman answered, "This is Olga, the nanny."
I went downstairs and introduced myself as the house sitter. Olga had forgotten that she was to return the next day instead of that day. Then she started to tell me about some physical problems she'd been having. I asked her who her doctor was and urged her to make an appointment as soon as possible. She wasn't a native English speaker, so I helped her through her HMO phone tree and she was given an urgent appointment for that same day.
I admit that I'd figured out 3 things while staying in the house:
The wife was of Russian orgin.
The wife employed a nanny.
Something had happened to the nanny.
I did not know the nanny's name.
I did not know the nanny had been sick.
I did not know the nanny was from Russia.
Why did her name come to me when I wasn't expecting anyone?
Why did she come on the wrong day?
Why did she confide in me that she was ill?
