Good news for us - bad news for the drug companies,

Looks like the Scientologists are putting the heat on the drug companies. NOT an easy task. Good work. This is from the LA Scientology Orgnization. Dear Friends,

This is the biggest win CCHR International has had in 30 years!!! Don't know
if you heard but we worked hard to push through amendments to a new federal
bill that just got passed by both Chambers of the U.S. Congress and signed
by the President of the U.S.! It reforms the FDA!

Currently, when the drug companies do clinical studies on a drug, they can
pick and choose which studies are released to the FDA! This practice
endangers every US citizen and had to be stopped. Therefore you have
situations like Vioxx where per the FDA over 27,000 people died between 1999
and 2003. And one can only wonder how many people have been damaged or died
from anti-depressants, anti-psychotics and stimulants.

The FDA bill that just passed mandates that all clinical trials by the drug
companies now be placed on the Internet!!! And they must include a
glossary! This means that, way before the approval process, our and other
experts can expose the proposed drug's dangers! This will save the lives of
countless people and prevent so many others from taking such drugs!

New Drug Warning on Drug Advertising! The bill also mandates that all advertising for drugs (starting with printads and a transition to be made to TV ads)
includes a warning that anyone with side effects from the drug being
advertised is urged to report them to the FDA. The ad will list the FDA's
800 # and their website! And all such reports are Public Information!! This
could easily mean hundreds of thousands of such reports that can be given to
the press and U.S. Congress!

The bill also authorizes the FDA to fine the drug companies up to 10 million
dollars for false and misleading ads. Prior to the bill, they were not
authorized to fine them for such false ads! Additional testing to be done on
drugs after they are given to the public!

Another provision provides over $200 million so that the FDA can conduct
post-marketing drug trials to determine the drug's effects on the public!
And Insurance and Pharmacy claims will be used as a basis to determine who
has been damaged! This will enable any dangerous drugs to be pulled from
the market! This in itself is gold! These are just some of the powerful
effects of this bill. We want to thank you for making this bill possible as
without you and the energy you provided this would not be federal law!

It was passed by both the U.S. House and Senate and recently signed by the
President! Please take a well-deserved bow!!! Millions of lives will now be
protected!!
