Re: Found an answer to my IBS! beer
Well, I have tried other types of beer, someone told me it would help and it didn't. I guess it's the really stout beer, very dark. I haven't experimented with other kinds because the Guiness works so well and they all cost about the same. I usually drink it in the evening, I don't think the non-alcoholic versions come in a stout.
I have just been reading that IBS is caused by
Antibiotic use and that we should stay away from dairy. Beer does go through a fermentation process so it makes sense that it's helping to digest our food. Mind you, eating was becoming a painfull process for me, never knowing what was going to make me miserable. I just wasn't properly digesting my food. I hope this keeps working because I was beside myself, trying a new drug that didn't work at all and was very expensive. Don't have too much faith in doctors anymore. It was kind of like an answer to prayer! Except it's not the kind of testimoney I can tell in church, ha!
We went to the Guiness factory in Ireland, but I didn't pay much attention to the process, now I wish I had. I would think yeast wouldn't be a good thing. But if you don't eat sugar, maybe it doesn't hurt as badly.
I just looked this up, take a look if you like:

I don't feel so bad now that I read that! It's full of B vitamins.
