Pain caused by partial

I just got a lower partial today, and I HATE it! When they put it in, it was very painful on my gums when they pushed it down. I yelped! Taking it out was much worse though! The dentist said to wear it for a couple of days and then come back to get it adjusted. He said not to brush my teeth with it in either. Ok, so I came home and ate. I hate the way the thing feels in my mouth, but I guess I can get used to it. Attempted to take it out to brush it, and OUCH! One side came out fairly easily, but the other side took forever to get it out and it hurt really bad! On top of that, my gums bled profusesly and are now swollen! I gargled with this expensive mouthwash the dentist gave me when I had my teeth scaled the last time. Then I put some Colloidal Silver and Clove bud on my gums and it feels better now. So what do I do? Is this normal? The gum bleeding and bad pain from the partial? Does this go away, or at least get any better? What can I do or take to make the horrid thing more comfortable?
