Did your joint pain disappear post-removal?

I had the Mirena IUD put in Apr. '07. I started having shoulder and elbow pain w/in a month or so, but attributed it to my 1 yr. old twins that I lug around. A few months later I started having joint pain in my fingers. My mom died of MS and I know that I'm at a higher risk for autoimmune diseases, so I saw my MD and she ran lots of blood tests. There is no indication what so ever that I have an inflammatory or auto-immune disease. However, the blood tests did show a low white blood cell count and subclinical hypothyroidism. I feel well, and luckily haven't experienced the fatigue, Acne or mood changes since having the IUD, but my joint pain has gotten worse and my drs. cannot explain it or my blood and thyroid issues. It's interesting how my symptoms mimic those of Lupus or RA, but cannot be diagnosed via blood work. I am so glad to have found this site and see that my symptoms are similar to so many of you and likely related to the IUD. I was referred to this forum by a good friend, who by the way, just had her Mirena IUD removed for irritability, etc. and feels better than ever just one week later. I must say, I've really enjoyed not having periods since having the IUD (I always had horrible cramps and heavy bleeding) but I'd gladly take that back if I can get my joints to stop aching. The timing of my symptoms is too much of a coincidence for me to dismiss that the Mirena IUD could be the cause. I plan to have it removed in hopes that my joint pain subsides and my thyroid problems resolved. For those of you who experienced similar symptoms and had your IUD removed, if and when did your joints begin to feel better? How about thyroid issues? I truly appreciate your input and hope to be back to my healthy self!!!
