Zinc connection

I was just talking with my ND and got back some blood tests for zinc and red cell zinc (as well as selenium). My selenium levels were in the high end of the range, but my ND wants me to continue to take selenium supplements as he says that selenium is just awesome for so many reasons (especially with regard to heavy metals).

But what was interesting was that my zinc and red cell zinc levels were very low. He said that this can play havoc with the thyroid and is probably the reason that Iodine has helped me all that much to date. He said that low zinc can mess with RT3, and my levels were high. He prescribed a good quality zinc supplement and suggested that I continue with Lugols and selenium, and that when my zinc levels return to a "normal" level, things should start to improve.
