You seemed to have missed the first part of the sentence.

"In early America athiest's were not even permitted to be witnesses in a court of law."

You need to work on your comprehension skills as it is apparent you are quite mixed up about who allowed who to advance their agenda. It is easier to understand how you became an atheist, but perhaps when you learn to have the capacity for understanding fully you will become more teachable.
