Re: Ian, Oneness without compassion seems to me to be sociopathy or narcisism?
Hi there, (note: I'll repeat my answer here, as it is a NDE-related answer. )
.......
I feel that we decide to forget we are one... at some degree.
Our minds forgets, we try to forget...
Sometimes -here it comes a nasty paradox- we decide to forget the spiritual realm because the spiritual pain is too much. We decide that we need spiritual anesthesia, because we can't handle spiritual feelings well.
And sometimes this anesthesia can be the act of ignoring the Light.
The joke is that the consequences of the anesthesia are painful. After all, it is spiritual anesthesia, isn't it? Temporal.
When we decide to use the spiritual anesthesia (which is just the fact of ignoring the Light we are) we can't feel empathy, ergo we can't forgive, we can't do good -actually we do harm-.
And there are terrible extremes, like the terrible examples you've mentioned. *breathe*
Nevertheless... you know very well that we are made of Light. We came from the same Light and we are still and forever part of that one Light.
Remember your gift, that vision of the orbs of light...
But this envelope, this weak flesh, has a brain. And maybe its use has been overrated.
My belief is that very, very, very deep in our soul we always knew. Even we use our mind and the sensations of this world to try to dim that light, we always know.
Even when we use shiny light at the dance-clubs, or see shiny plasma TVs, or we eat in excess... we always know that sometimes we use those sensations to hide from the Light.
Now, I don't want to sound like those artifacts and things are 'evil'. I do enjoy every little pixel of a great plasma TV, and I love the new
Cell Phone s with broadband, I like expensive cars, etc etc... the problem -at least for me- is when we are out of balance and our mind decides to hide there for too long.
Still, we always know, our brain may or may not realize the Oneness that can be experience in a NDE or spiritual experience. But if we shut down the thoughts for an instant, we'll always remember. Call it meditation...
We can also call it music, music vanishes rational thoughts, and leave us in a 'feel only' state. Art, creating something is another good way of meditation, spiritual contemplation.
I use to write music, and believe me, when I finish something... I can't really take credit for it. I feel I didn't know where it came from. Actually, I feel it came from the Light, and when I'm open I can try to replicate that Light on the physical realm.
I do have hope, because of the free will we have, and because we are Light, that those horrible things that happens daily can be reduced more and more and more. It is possible, even if it is highly unlikely.
Maybe they just need to remember the way back Home. Folks all around the world needs to remember that they already are marvelous shiny loving beings, in a confused flesh sensual body.
Our enemy is the guilt, I have serious doubts that guilt can leave to anything good. I prefer to donate just 1 dollars for love,
instead of giving 100 just to feel a guilt relief -notice that there's no love in the guilt-based action, only selfishness-.
I believe that guilt might block the loving feeling of oneness that the Light constantly send us. Worst: sometimes this guilt is used purposely injected into one's brain by some few, the guilt has so many words associated: fear, selfishness, un-loving acts, depression, addictions... time wasting things.
A helpful thing I read in a near death experience account that can help us dissipate the band of rain and clouds when we are in the middle of a spiritual storm:
"You are loved, no matter what."
