Re: Parasites, Dysbiosis & Leaky Gut – Part 2

These articles about Leaky gut is exactly what I needed to read. Everything that man says is spot on and this condition is HORRIBLE.

I have a severe leaky gut since the age of 16 and it has just been worse.

It started with hives all over the body and candida overgrowth. Then IBS and and fatigue after each meal and more itchy skin. The doctors could not understand what was, and is, wrong, they say that it is stress and allergy related. Go figure.

Now, I get itching and hives on my skin everytime I eat food, the minute food gets in contact with my intestinal lining. Things that are corrosive, like fruit acids, apple cider vingear, or any kind of spice, eats up the intestinal lining and afterwards I can feel how my intestines feel by evaluaing how bad the reaction is on the skin. At one time it was so bad that I couldnt eat anything, everytime I ate something the skin would burn and there was PAIN on the skin, I could not wear clothes because it hurt so much, it was like this for 2 months and I lost 20 lbs of wieght.

I have tried to improve my digestion by taking digestive enzymes in pill form, and that is always a huge mistake, they totally "eat" the lining on the intestines, not to mention HCL pills (!) and it takes about 4 days before things settle down.

I was also told this:

"Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) by their physicians. The standard treatment for this syndrome had not helped them. All they had received was a label. Many had been told there was no cure."

"In evaluating these patients, I found that the majority had intestinal parasites, food intolerance or a lack of healthy intestinal bacteria."

I remember when I started to supplement with probiotics for the first time in my life, and go figure, the skin condition got better and better until I went back to a crappy diet and had the worst flare up of candida (and probably the parasites too) and the leaky gut came back with a vengeance.

"The symptoms produced by excessive intestinal permeability may be limited to the abdomen or may involve the entire body. They may include fatigue and malaise, joint and muscle pain, headache and skin eruptions. The clinical disorders associated with increased intestinal permeability include any inflammation of the large or small intestine (colitis and enteritis), chronic arthritis , skin conditions like acne, eczema, hives or psoriasis, migraine headaches, chronic fatigue, deficient pancreatic function and AIDS ."

I know about these symtoms all to well (except AIDS, thank lord!), it's a pain in the a*s, the skin is worst.

"In most cases, it is incorrect to think of excessive permeability as the cause of these disorders. Instead, excess permeability occurs as part of the chain of events which causes disease and aggravates existing symptoms or produces new ones."

I have never been able to cure this on my own, there have been diets, cleanses, fasts, therapy, you name it. It actually became worse as the good bacterial flora in my gut have been washed out several times by cleanses, and that just increased the dysbiosis. Frequent enemas, that were suppose to cleanse me out, left me with an inflamed and burning colon that does not heal, it has been so for 2 years now.

no good bacteria and almost only critters that kick and bite me and poke me in the colon everyday.

The gut is key, oh gosh I cannot stress this enough, the gut is KEY. A balance in the gut is key to good health, a balance so delicate!
