Re: A question for those of you who have used Protopic??
I am using Protopic right now. I've been using it for about 5 days. It doesn't burn very much at all. Not any more than my lips were burning before. More of a tingle. It definately has cut down the redness around my lips a little and it's slowed the peeling process. The parts where the peeling is not as bad are looking much better. It's a little early to tell if it's gonna help so I'll keep you guys posted, but it's definately not as detrimental so far as some people have suggested. It's like using vaseline. It's basically tacrolimus in a base of vaseline and mineral oil. I'm going to try it for about a month. I'd love to hear other Protopic stories. Particularly positive ones =).
I have a derm appointment on Monday, and I'm going to ask her about UV and laser treatment and let her take a look at my progress with the Protopic. I'll keep in touch.
P.S. I tried 4 weeks of the chinese herbs and accupunture and did not notice much of a difference really. I think the diet change he had me do helped the most. Look up TCM cooling/warming foods, then add more cools and cut out warms. I really enjoyed my treatments though, and I would not completely discount this method yet. My guy was not the most "authentic" seeming TCM guy, but he was caring and fairly knowledgable. I'm also going to this plant healer who basically finds energy blockages and straightens them out with accupressure and burning plants. I love Alternative Medicine!
