I’m surprised that the Arabs would resort to eating dung, instead of something else found in a plant. Our current pharmaceutical approach is largely attributed to the Arabs and Persians who were skilled as pharmacologists and physicians.
It was the Arabic people who confiscated the Greek and Roman medical texts when they invaded North Africa. This happened in the 7th century. The center for most of their studies took place in Baghdad. Physicians studied medicinal plants from Europe, India and the Far East. They became skilled at separating medicine and pharmacological sciences, developing plant extraction methods. Baghdad had established the first professional pharmacy in the world.
Before this current war in 2003, it was my understanding that some of those ancient texts were around – who knows what happen to that information now!
