Hibiclens - Chlorhexidine Gluconate Antiseptic

Hibiclens is an over the counter antiseptic.....active ingredient is called Chlorhexidine Gluconate. If the folliculitis is NOT called by a fungus (as in staphylococcus aureus bacteria), for me, this is by far the most effective treatment.

Yes, I've had scalp folliculitis for 15 years, and nothing has completely gotten rid of it; however, Hibiclens makes it extremely manageable. The bottle says not to use it on the head, but these directions came to me from a dermatologist (in fact, two different dermatologists). I guess, mention it to your doctor before using it, but I'm just telling you what has been helpful.

As for a regimen, Hibiclens, Amoxicillin 250mg 3 times a day, Evoclin and Luxiq foams once a night.

Also, another effective Antibiotic that I've used is called Omnicef. I've also had help with Cipro. The itching can be helped with a 3% Salicyclic Acid shampoo (which by the way, it the active ingredient in different Acne medicines.

I've also used a shampoo called Capitrol with some benefit. I've also ordered a botle of Betadine Shampoo.....which I ordered from England. It had some benefits.

I've also used with some benefit Metrogel and Clindamycin.

Other medicines I've used with almost no benefit have been Doxycycline, Sumyacin, Minocycline, Keflex, Nizoral, Carmol Shampoo, and probably a few others.

Another thing you may want to attempt is to order Tea Tree Oil Shampoo and Tea Tree Oil Soap. It's antibacterial and antifungal and it's research can be looked at on pubmed dot com.
