I believe that on occasion there is a good reason to use Antibiotics . It certainly sounds like you had the need to resort to them. The real problem with Antibiotics is their widespread and unnecessary abuse. They are an easy drug to prescribe for almost any ailment. They are a big money maker for pharmacies. A routine dose of amoxicillin costs only pennies, but most often the prices is raised 500% or more.

Most people will probably truly need some kind of Antibiotic a half dozen times in their lifetime if or when a strong bacterial infection overpowers the immune system. Now days the drugs are prescribed for viral problems, random unknown symptoms and for prophylactic measures. We need to do more to improve and strengthen our immune systems than to automatically take drugs to wipe out every bug that gets hold of us. Yet, I still believe that there are circumstances where Antibiotics can be real lifesavers. I am glad you used your instincts and did what you needed to do to get well. Now you have the opportunity to grow stronger and healthier where your body will be able to fight off infections the way it was created to. In your case, I would have probably done the same thing, even though I would hate every pill I swallowed.
