Home Panchakarma for Bromide Detoxification

Well, I'm going to do this folks,I'm starting tomorrow AM, got everything I need in about three hours of shopping today, made ghee...This is really cool, I bought this book, "The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies" by Vasant Lad, quite some time ago on Molly Bloom's(QUEEN of all things oily) recommendation. I'm an information junkie and quite often I find that info that I don't need at the present moment, I WILL need in the future. So it's cool that I have this book, that details a Home Panchakarma...:) And who knew that my earlier oily love would circle around and show to be an effective way to detox those nasty bromides? I can't imagine that this will be as effective as a full-on supervised panchakarma, but just as bromides accumulate over time, perhaps if we work this gentler version of panchakarma into our lives on a cyclical basis, we will see results. And I don't know about the rest of you, but I've got 15-20 lbs of brominated fat that will NOT budge. Well, I tells ya, I'm just gonna oil, grease and lube myself all over and let them fat-soluble bromides & poisons slide on out... Let the FUN begin!
BTW, I'm going to suspend all other supplementation during this time. It will enable me to better judge the efficacy of the treatment. And AFTERWARDS, I'll try iodoral, which I was recently *gifted* with:)
another thing...this is perfect, for me...I love OIL!!!!! :) (and I hate bromides)
and one more thing~ I have no idea what dosha I am. I've tried to figure it out before, I've got characteristics of all three(as do most people)...so I'm just going with sesame & plain ghee..
if y'all want to try to figure out dosha what you are, here's a simple test:

3) triphala~ a powdered Ayurvedic herbal blend, I found it at my local herb shop.
4) dashamoola~ " " "
5) two enema bags
6) Ingredients to make kitchari: basmati rice, moong dahl(also known as mung beans, readily available at health food stores), cumin, mustard seed, coriander and ghee. Here's a recipe although this uses brown rice...I'll use basmati, I just like it better:)

The protocol~
Taken from the book "The Complete Book of Ayurvedic Home Remedies" by Vasant Lad....
the same guy that wrote this:

"....If you are not near a center where panchakarma is available under the supervision of a trained Ayurvedic physician, you can do an effective purification program at home.
Begin your home detoxification program with internal oleation. For 3 days in a row, take about two
oz of warm, liquified ghee early in the A.M. For a vata person, take the ghee with a pinch of rock salt. For a pitta person, take the ghee plain. The kapha individual should add to the ghee just a pinch of trikatu(a mixture of equal amounts of ginger, black pepper and Indian long pepper).
The ghee provides internal oleation and lubrication, which is necessary so that the ama or toxins begin to come back from the deep tissue to the G.I. tract for elimination.
After your 3 days of internal oleation, it is time for external oleation. For the next 5-7 days, apply 7-8 oz of warmed oil to your body from head to toe, rubbing it in well. The best oil for vata types is sesame, which is heavy and warming, pittas should use sunflower, which is less heating, kaphas do best with corn oil. You can do this massage for 15-20 mins.
After the oil is well rubbed in and absorbed, take a hot bath or shower. Then wash with some Ayurvedic herbal soap, such as neem. Let some of the oil remain on your skin...
...during your home purification, every night at least one hour after supper take 1/2 to 1 tsp. triphala. Add about 1/2 c. boiling water to triphala powder, and let it steep 10 mins or until it has cooled down, then drink it. Along with it's many healing and nourishing properties, triphala is a mild laxative. It will provide the benefits of a more potent purgative treatment, but more gently and over a longer span of time. Triphala is safe and can be effectively used for months at a time.
To complete your home panchakarma treatment, on the last 3 days perform an Ayurvedic medicated enema after your hot bath or shower. Use dashamoola tea for the enema. Boil 1 tbsp dashamoola in 1 pint of water for 5 mins to make the tea. Cool it, strain it, and use the liquid to make the enema. *ok, THIS is where it gets a little complicated.* ... :)
-first, introduce 5 oz warm sesame oil into the rectum. Hold for 10 mins. Then introduce the herbal tea WITHOUT expelling the sesame oil, hold for at least 30 mins. While holding the fluid, assume a hands and knees position and elevate the buttocks, this relaxes the colon. Periodically massage the colon counterclockwise....then evacuate. Don't worry if little or no liquid comes out. For certain individuals, particularly vata individuals, the colon may be so dry and dehydrated that the liquid may all be absorbed. This is not harmful in any way.
This "snchana" (oleation both internal and external with ghee and oil), "swedana"(sweating using a hot shower or hot bath), and virechana(purgation) using triphala, followed by "basti" using dashamoola tea, constitute an effective panchakarma that you can easily do on your own at home.
During this entire time it is important to get plenty of rest, and to observe a light diet. From days 4 - 8 OR days 4 - 10, eat only kitcharee. Kitcharee is a wholesome, nourishing, balanced food that is an excellent protein combination. It is easy to digest and good for all three doshas, and it is also cleansing."

now, in this link re: the actual study:
http://content.herbalgram.org/wholefoodsmarket/herbclip/pdfs/010335-231.pdf
~things were done a little differently. One thing that I'll take from that study is a low fat diet, with the exception of the ghee of course..

~and I have some thoughts regarding essential oils to add to the sesame massage oil...
- Lemon...anti-cellulite
-frankincense...antiseptic, immune stimulant, circulation, reputed to oxygenate the pineal and pituitary glands...:)
-juniper...detoxifier, cleanser...
-black pepper...may increase cellular oxygenation...indicated for poor circulation and poor muscle tone...
-sandalwood...similar to frankincense...
-sweet orange...tissue repair...
~anybody got anything to add to that? :)
sound like fun? :)

ps...ONE MORE THING....this post, by
Andreas Moritz , is a must-read:
//www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=494968#i
~ he's talking about a more intense version of this protocol, but still...CLEANSE, people. If your liver ain't clean, if you're not pooping and peeing regularly, address those things FIRST. Please!
