Re: Keeping Promises to Seniors

With pain in my heart I must tell you that you are dreaming.  Congress is out to fleece the elderly, along with Big Pharma.  In fact, I daresay that Big Pharma tells Congress what to do.

As I visit the elderly in nursing homes and assisted living facilities, too often I am told of how under their Medicare Plan they are only allowed a certain number of prescriptions that they need to stay alive and for those that they don't need that are slowly killing them.  Blood Pressure, heart medications, and so on.  After those run out they must pay full price which amounts to hundreds of dollars a month for only one medication.  These people take a handful of pills a day, maybe more.

Under their plan, their monthly payment is more and more each year.  They have a copay for doctor's visits and tests.

The meager raise that they get in their social security each year is offset by living expenses and the increase in medicare costs, leaving them on the losing end.

Yet, money is being taken from our elderly for the Iraq war and other expenses.  Why are we letting them get away with this?

After all that our elderly have contributed to us, to society, they are left to wallow in the depths of despair.

Our government, the FDA, mainsrteam medicine, and Big Pharma are the most evil and heartless people of all.

Hugs,

Luella
