Question about castor oil packs...

I understand the protocol calls for using wool or cotton flannel, yet due to spending LOTS of money on different things for the different protocols I have attempted and not wanting to spend even more, is it possible to do the pack with just cotton? I mean like a old t-shirt or something. I have plenty of those and no cotton flannel.
