Help! I have MCS/CFIDS and have to move!

Dear Curezoners:

My old house is falling apart, and on top of that it has mold problems that are exacerbating my health challenges.  It is too costly to fix, and I can't live in it during any kind of renovation. My two siblings and I own it although I live in it with my two children. It will be put it up for sale as a "tear down" as soon as my children and I find a place to live.

I am looking for a rental house/townhome/duplex for my self and my two responsible teenagers (one a freshman at California State University, Long Beach, the other a high school honors student) that is suitable for someone with MCS/EI.  Will also consider buying a home if the price is right ($450,000 maximum).  Any and all help will be appreciated, including prayers and good intentions!

The ideal home will be:

  • located in Long Beach area/North Orange County in California (Long Beach/Seal Beach/Lakewood/Cerritos/Cypress/Los Alamitos/Westminster/Garden Grove/Northern parts of Huntington Beach, etc)
  • willing to share housing with another woman/children with MCS/EI
  •  maximum monthly rent approximately $1250 (less is better, of course!)
  • 2-3 bedrooms, 1-2 baths
  • in a quiet neighborhood away from heavily trafficked streets and freeways
  • all electric appliances  (no gas stove/no gas floor furnace)
  • forced air heat ok as long as vents are free of mold/dust and the furnace is adequately vented to the outside
  • hardwood/tile floors throughout  (no-shag "industrial" style carpet may be ok)
  • washer/dryer hookups
  • free of pesticides/herbicides/termite control inside/outside
  • free of new carpet/remodeling
  • free of new paint unless low/no VOC (no oil based paint)
  • free of the residue of perfumed/scented products used for carpet/housecleaning/scented candles/incense
  • free of cat dander
  • free of cigarette smoke residue

I have my own refrigerator/washer/dryer.  I do NOT need a pool, air conditioning, dishwasher or free health spa.

Please post or email me any leads! Please refer me to any patient/understanding reputable realtors/property management companies in Orange County/South Los Angeles County, California that may be able to work with me!

Thank you again!

Liora
