Sometimes statements are made on other forums which are totally false. They are verifiably false if one has a little bit of scientific knowledge which the lay-public may lack. Thats why people can make such claims which go unchallenged and are therefore believed.
There is a difference between keeping an open mind (in things which you don't fully understand) or in things that are not researched and speaking up when something false is said.
Some of the statements I've read are:
1. The human body doesn't need protein (not true).
2. Heavy metals (e.g. mercury) in organic form are safe (not true).
3. Flax oil is a goitrogen (not true - Soy is).
This forum is a place where you can explore such issues and where through rational debate such statements could be challenged and debunked if necessary.
This would make the issues themselves and how to seperate fact from fiction the main concern, rather than someones personal reputation.
