Dr. Brian Gay says that the Canadians health care system is unsustainable, and therefore there is a role for private medicine to play now. He cites a Quebec Supreme court finding that allows private medicine when public systems fail to provide.
First they underfund the system, and find all sorts of ways to ratchet up costs - including using every new pill the pharma-giants dish out and ignoring non-patentable medicines that would cost less and be better for the patient in many cases.
Now, when the budgets are just too small to cover it all, they declare the health care system dead.
The rhetoric is weak, the facts are made up, and it is simply a
Conspiracy to get the private foot in the door. When that much money is at stake, we can assume someone is trying to create a monopoly for themselves, and looky here we got Dr. Brian Gay.
The introduction of parallel private insurance:
*would not improve access to publicly insured services.
*would not lower costs or improve quality of care.
*could increase wait times for those who are not privately insured.
*could exacerbate human resource shortages in the public system.
