First a little background. I had a bad gallstone attack about a year ago and have done about a half dozen flushes since. But I've come up with an interesting observation on what may be causing my attacks (besides greasy foods), and I'm wondering if any of you have had the same experience.
It appears to be beans. Prior to the last four attacks I ate bean burritos, or just plain beans and cornbread. Even the last attack I only ate one burrito that was 100% no fat in the tortilla or in the beans, but I did have a pinch of shredded cheese. I still had an attack and I don't think it was the cheese. Has anyone else experienced this?
I don’t dare eat a hamburgers, I know what they do, but I don’t see how beans could cause an attack. I used to eat hotdogs for lunch at Costco, until I found out they were loaded with fat... but I never had an attack because of those, that I know of.
Also, it would seem to me that one of the best things a person could do is regularly drink liquids with ultra-phos, or apple cider vinegar in them, or anything else to keep the stones they already have soft, so they will pass through no matter when they pass. Does that make sense?
My last question: Since the idea of a flush is to drink olive oil to make the gallbladder shoot out bile and pass the stones, why are we not to eat anything that has fat in it, which does just that, cause the gallbladder to shoot out bile?
Like I said I’ve done about a half dozen flushes to date, and they have helped, at least they appear to, because it’s been over a year and thank God I still have my gallbladder, and my attacks aren’t nearly as bad as the first two were. But one thing I do each day (besides continually asking God for help), is I drink 1 tblsp of olive oil each morning before breakfast, and I DO think that helps.
Thanks very much for your help.
