hi, i had numbness all down my left side, also tingling. migraines, acne, energy loss and memory loss, to name the main side effects on mirena. my neuro (top specialist from london) has said that it is impossible that migraines etc can be caused by mirena - even though the official literature on mirena lists migraines as a side effect on mirena!!! so how is that for denial??:)- even my doctor had said that progesterone products do cause migraines in many women!! anyway, as soon as i had mirena out, the numbness started to go and i was left with tingling in the toes that lasted just a day or so.. then other symptoms appeared as my system tried to right itself...hot flushes etc...i am 2 months mirena free now and apart from constant bleeding (which was the reason i had mirena in the first place), i am fine, no more numbness, no headaches (just a slight pressure in the side of my head, which is gradually lessening) and tingling all gone. energy is also up. oh by the way, mirena is known to affect your
Sugar levels, which is why diabetics shouldnt have it, or if they do have it, they should be monitored closely, so that explains the highs and lows that many people get - their
Sugar levels are all over the place lol...the neuro told me i was fine - but he saw me AFTER mirena was taken out. no doubt if he had tested me while i had the numbness he would have said i had MS too - after all the tests are pretty basic - pricking you with a sharp object, testing reflexes and running cotton wool up and down your legs..oh and seeing if you can walk in a straight line...:) they were the tests i had anyway lol...
if you havent already, get the mirena out now, give yourself time to recover - it may take 3 or 4 months as you have had the mirena in you for so long. get on a good diet of lots of water, fresh fruit and veg, evening primrose oil, B vitamins and perhaps try milk thistle too (milk thistle is for short term use only, like a month - but is good at cleansing the liver and helps to reduce the effectiveness of mirena, which is why you are not supposed to have milk thisle while actively using mirena).

this gives all side effects etc. my doctor had not heard of numbness etc while on mirena before but i showed her the print out from that site, which said "if you notice numbness while on mirena, contact your doctor immediately" etc...that convinced her to take it out immediately, and i am so pleased she did!!
good luck to you, hope all works out well.
