Glyconutrients, the 8 that have been discovered to be the 'alphabet' whereby the cells communicate, form chains in various combinations that create the glycoforms that grow off the outer wall of the cell. Those glycoforms then wave and touch glycoforms from other cells to pass along vital information for cell function.
According to Harper's Biochemistry text book which is a med school text, although there are about 200 glyconutrients or these sugars in nature there are 8 that are critical to the correct formation of those chains that enable cell to cell communication.
When they are malformed or simply too short for lack of various sugars then the poor communication affects the immune system resulting in it's either not recognizing intruders which causes immune dysfunction or else not recognizing parts of itself as 'self' and then it attacks causeing what we call autoimmune system illness.
Dr John Axford former president of the Royal College of Rheumatology and Immunology has begun to 'sugar print' cells from people especailly with
Arthritis type illnesses and has discovered the missing sugars for several- when he gives those patients the missing sugars, their illnesses disappear because the
Sugar chains can form correctly.
Your question was - how much to take
It has become generally accepted in glycobiology that for optimal health all cells in a person's body need to be completely glycosylated.... that means that all cells have enough of the 8 sugars that all the glcyoforms are formed properly. When that occurs, the person is well in the optimal sense.
So how much to take - unless you can afford to find someone to
Sugar print your cells it's a process to taking until you see the results you want to see.
I cannot speak for the myriad of sources that people on this forum seem to want to use to access glycos. But since I take ones that are guaranteed in quality and efficacy and follow gmps' so I at least have an idea that what I take goes where I want it to go...
THen I take enough til I am well- then when I am well I start cutting back til I see old symptoms returning, bump it back up again and stay there and seem to be quite well that way.
Good luck
