Seems to me that it really depends on who particpates and how well the producers pull things together, acquire the appropriate "voices". I've dealt with Harpo, but only in LA. I've dealt with Paramount in NY (affilated with Harpo, but maybe not her actual program) The producers don't always exercise the expected due diligence - even in easy to read/predict situtions.
I'm curious enough to try to learn just who brought this to her attention, or just how she's finally made it here.
I think the prerequisite that one must be willing to appear needs adjustment in order for some real fact sharing. Personally, I could NOT appear unless blacked out and anon or by phone. I could change my thinking, but as of now I believe participating in full candor could cause more damage on a personal/professional level for me as an individual. This could be a huge and detrimental caveat toward the outcome of the program. If it is to ever air, or take place on set. I did not see an air date. At this point they probably do not know themselves. I wish the "call out" was prepared differently. Too broad, too common.
This one could roll both ways. I encourage those who really have a grasp for this, the credentials, experience, the right "tongue and lips" - to get involved. I plan to contact the producers I know in LA, see if I can make contact w the producers for the Oprah Show. (I dealthwith them on another talk show.) This must be done with ample time in advance of the taping. Ohterwise, it could potentially be a disaster.
Huma - I don't know you but I know you know your stuff. I understand the conflict of interest - but you might be surprised to learn that these people are very good at editing out. And whatever you might be able to say which is universally important, even if it alludes to your product, comes from a highly unique and critical perspective - I sure hope you think this over.
