I called a HFS. They have Ascorbic Acid but not Sodium Ascorbate. From what I have read, we need Vitamin C in the form of Sodium Ascorbate ( alkaline) and not Ascorbic Acid ( Acidic).
Does anyone know, how I can make Sodium Ascorbate. I know it is made by mixing Ascorbic Acid + Baking Soda. Is there any specific ratio I need to mix these. Or just 50/50 in water.

This is a reply to # 863,064I've been taking ascorbate that I make mixing 1 teasp. ascorbic acid and 1/2 teasp. baking soda (aluminium-free!). I read that recipe in a link posted here. It's a dentist that is all about prevention - very very interesting site, i'll look for it now and post it.

The resulting SODIUM ASCORBATE is non-acid, very pure and a thousand times more soluble than vitamin C. SODIUM ASCORBATE IS MORE REACTIVE THAN ASCORBIC ACID (C) in building connective tissue and antibody structures and more effective in killing some viruses and bacteria.

Please do not confuse baking soda with baking powder.

Edit: I confused baking soda with baking powder when I responded below. (grrrr).
It's baking POWDER that has to say: "aluminum free" (to sure it has no aluminum), NOT bakding SODA.

Yes, Arm & Hammer contains aluminum. Unless a package says "without aluminum" or "aluminum free" it definitely has aluminum.

This is a reply to # 863,064Before I read all the rest of the replies, I just want to say that I have been going with the idea of getting both Ascorbic Acid AND Sodium Ascorbate in my Vitamin C pills.
I think the Vit C. producers are being negligent in not allways having both, getting both was recomended to me 25 years ago.
Also, when possible, avoid the bad fillers and so on, even the stuff that holds it together. All that can be made from "vegatable sources" if they care to do it.
I hate to be "branded" by going with a corporate name, but the Jamieson "Citris Juice" which I have right here in my hand and in my mouth, is the one that fits the conditions mentioned above.

To a half glass of DISTILLED WATER dissolve 1 heaping teaspoon of vita C crystals or power, add 1 half level teaspoon baking soda.
Stir until bubbling is over and water is clear, add more water (steam distilled only).
Then…
Add 1 level-half teaspoon L-proline pure powder and 1 level teaspoon L-lysine pure powder. Mix well.
Take 2 capsules of green tea extract and 1 Q10 100mg soft gel tablet with your elixer.
Take 1 to 2 times a day for a month and see the difference. May cause some diarrhea the first few days. Monitor your blood pressure if it tends to be high, because this will get it back in balance.

This is a reply to # 863,064I have taken up to 35 grams a day of plain ascorbic acid for over 50 years, without ill effects or health problems. For some buffered vitamin C at first maybe better, but usually ok after a week or two. When vitamin C taken in excess of bodies needs, the extra is excreted into the kidneys and urine, preventing ‘stones’. …dez...
