I understand the embarrassment about your feet. Several years ago after a trip to the yukatan, I came home with a bad case of jungle rot, my fault I was too absorbed in the ruins to leave and change shoes after stepping in some water inside a ruin that probably hadn't seen the light of day in centuries..lol. I was so embarrassed by how they looked I didn't even want the doctor to see them in that condition. I tried for 2 weeks to get them presentable enough to see a doctor, and finally was in such agony I had to hobble in to the base hospital. I was so ashamed and even more embarrassed when the doctor looked at me like I had two heads when I explained why I waited so long to see him. He said he had never seen a case that bad state side in all his military medical career, though was a bit more understanding when I explained I had been cruising through the jungle a few weeks before.
