I have had the Mirena IUD for about 4 - 5 months...almost immediately I started feeling really low...I decided to go back to work early (my daughter was only six months old) because I had always found enjoyment at work, but soon after I started feeling more and more depressed. The last couple of weeks, I have not even been able to function, I cry at nothing, I fight with my husband over nothing, I haven't been getting along with co-workers the same as I used to...what is happening to me??? Finally, I decided to bring it up to my boss, as I knew she noticed the difference in me (I used to be the model employee). She mentioned that she went through a similar situation on Depo Prevera. And click.....could it be this new IUD??? I have used the copper IUD's in the past, never a problem, I thought I would search the net, and here you all are...maybe I am not losing my mind after all???
I have also noticed a think mucous discharge, ever since I had the IUD inserted, has anyone else noticed this???

MoreThis is a reply to # 837,618I had my Mirena removed in October last year. I don't think I felt quite this good before I had it, but I'm not complaining.... I also had a discharge, but (sorry for the disgusting part) it had a bad odour too, so my confidence also took a knock. My relationship is back to normal (actually beter than ever!!!) and I actually feel like getting intimate again!!! yay!!! I'm not moody anymore either! I have however heard that it can take up to a year to get everything out your system. I had my mirena for almost exactly two years to the day, and in those two years I took pain killers just about every day. Now no more pain and I'm happy!!!!

I also have the thick mucous discharge. I have had the Mirena since January 2006 . Tons of side effects and never thought that it was mirena either. Until finding this forum. Checking into having it removed. My insurance company said they won't cover the removal so need to check with my doctor on cost. I want it removed ASAP. Do not like how I feel. - Re: I had no idea!!! This is a reply to # 837,618I'm new to this forum, and I was specifically wondering if anyone else experienced the mucousy discharge. For me it's pretty much constant, but much worse when I actually get my period. I've had the thing for about 6 months, got through the initial bleeding okay, but now this discharge, odd bleeding, raging PMS-type symptoms, and one-sided breast pain have me freaking out. I have an appointment with my doctor at the end of this month. I'm going to read and research as much as I can between now and then to make a decision about having it removed. And now I've got this odd feeling that I could be pregnant! Yikes! I might just make my husband run out and get me an ept. For those who have become pregnant with the Mirena in place, did you have a positive HPT? Deep breaths. Deep breaths. (Oh, now even those are difficult. This is a reply to # 843,342I have that mucous discharge. Have always had it and sometimes I have huge mucous clots come out as well. Making a apt with doc tomarrow. I experience horrible pain in lower abdomen and lower back all the time along with multiple other simptoms.
