I am SOOOOO glad I stumbled across my own envision!!!! Wonder why I didn't get an email letting me know they accepted my proposal for this new forum? Maybe it got lost in my Junk Mail blocker ...
But does it REALLY matter?!?!?!?!?
No way!!!!!
It is here NOW and I am happy, Happy, HAPPY!!!
Anyway, I am obviously interested in SIMPLIFYING our lives ... we've literally paid off ALL of our debts (no car payments or credit cards anymore) and have reduced our debt load down to one monthly house payment.
We have made this CHOICE voluntarily ... and I am curious to find out if there are others out there who are striving toward the same goals.
We have 80 beautiful acres just waiting for us to slowly build upon ... mortgage free ... but, that dream will take a while to manifest itself. I am actually embracing the simple life of country living in my mind ... and anxious to learn all I can about a more natural & laidback lifestyle.
ANY and ALL "voluntary simplicity" ideas will be welcome here ... I have so much to learn from everybody.

and I Am fine with it
But know that this is but a launch pad to live life
in the non-American Dream way
Just as diet of the averge American
is calling out for a change
to foster good health
and a reduction in health costs
Living in a simplified way
is so much kinder to the self
to the earth
and to the personal and national
budget

Well, I was seeking people with like-minds ... same goals ... living a simpler life ...swapping ideas to live more self-sufficiently.
This site is already populated with dedicated people who are striving to become self-sufficient in regards to their health ... I had hoped there might be some who embraced the idea of becoming self-sufficient in their lives among the rat-race.

This is a reply to # 798,632We have started growing vegetables this spring - the tomatoes last year didnt go very well. Also we are connecting a little pipe to the gutter and are collecting rain water so that we wont be using fresh water for watering the garden during the summer month. It feels good doing things without using other resources.
In my culture it is not so common to buy things on credit anyway so I am used to the life style of "if you havent got the money for it now you cant buy it". So the only thing is the house payment (and we do rent out some of the space)- I believe we once bought a sofa which we paid off within a year...it didnt feel nice to have this in your neck all the time.
Next month I have reduced my job to halftime and with it my salary. I will have MUCH less money but a lot more time to engage in old friendships again and enjoy my life a little bit. I am locking forward to spending spring days outside in the sun with my dogs instead of sitting in some office....life is so short- I dont want to wait for my retirement....
