I have a history of diagnosed clinical
Depression and in the past was prescribed several different anti-depressants. On my first Master Cleanse I had an overwhelming sense of well being and clarity. I couldn't wait to do it all again. I took a month to do colon cleansing and
Liver Flushing plus a couple of weeks to rest and rebuild. When I did my second Master Cleanse I crashed into a profound
Depression that was horrible. If I had not know what was wrong, I think I might have become suicidal. I toughed out the rest of the fast, broke it, and quickly recovered.
I believe that the intensive cleansing from the
Master-Cleanse plus colon cleansing does help with clinical depression. A lot of the seratonin that affects mood levels is produced in the colon. The cleaner it becomes, the better it is utilized by the body. However, during the fast the release of toxins may cause or reinforce depressive thoughts. One theory is that negative emotions can be stored in the body as bio-chemical compounds. In the natural course of cleansing these compounds are broken down and some of the old toxic emotions may be released.
Overall, I believe fasting and detoxification will help ease or cure depression; however, you may hit some rough spots in the process. I suggest you write down some affirmations and positive thoughts now and read and repeat them if you experience a depressive episode while doing the MC. Gentle exercise, fresh water and deep breathing can all help shorten the episode. Prayer and/or meditation and repeating affirmations will be the best weapons against fast induced
Depression and will help strengthen you in the long run. I hope you will experience many positive and helpful things while you are on the MC.
