I understand your concern with such a sensitive subject. I am currently in a masters program in natural health which was directly connected to the fact that I am getting older and, of course, as men get older the prostate is an issue to consider.
There use to be a time we could just leave the subject alone as younger guys but as we get older, we have to consider the male gland.
Yes, I have hear a lot about prostatic massage. Some experts agree to it and some don't. There are plenty of reasons a doctor would massage the prostate gland to get prostatic fluid for testing. Of course you can expect erections and some of the slimy post ejaculate fluid. That's just the nature of it.
I guess you can look at it from a purely scientific perspective. It is a natural response. You better be glad you have it.
Hopefully, this helps with the anxiety. If your medical practitioner approves of the massage, maybe your partner could perform this task for you if you are reluctant to have a stranger do it. Although your partner would need to be trained since the gland could suffer damage if done incorrectly. Also, it is suggested that if you have bacterial prostatitis, you could run the risk of spreading the infection if your give your prostate a massage. Anyway, that''s my two cents. I'm not a medical practitioner so I suggest you ask your doctor.
