Here's a good thing to remember: The original, old fashioned liver cleanses that are still used today were developed long before modern medicine or heavy duty prescription drugs.
What starts out as being beneficial may become harmful if caution is not taken. Dumping the liver with an aggressive cleanse is not recommended when prescription medication is involved. A gentle approach is much more sensible and is going to be easier on your body.
Given the medication you were on I suggest a gentle cleansing to start. This will take 6 to 8 weeks.
Start your mornings with a mild liver tonic; warm water with the juice of one lemon. Drink it as soon as you get out of bed, before you brush, eat or drink. Relax for 20 minutes and then proceed with your day. The warm water will stimulate your colon and the lemon juice is a mild liver tonic. Your body will be balanced for digestion and absorbtion for the day...it's a great way to start.
Liver Cleansing Protocol:
Step 1. For the first two or two and a half weeks; take an herbal supplement that contains artichoke and tumeric. You should be able find this in any health food store or on-line.
Step 2. For the next two or two and a half weeks take an herbal supplement that contains slippery elm and papaya. Again, you should be able to find this supplement at any health food store or on-line.
Step 3. For the final two or two and a half weeks take an herbal supplement that contains dandelion and milkthistle. Make sure it is whole milkthistle herb and not milkthistle extract.
Step 4. Do a liver flush with grapefruit juice and olive oil.
Given the medication you have been on I would error on the side of caution. Take your time and gently cleanse your liver.

Be sure of the supplements you buy. Look for products that are non habit forming and avoid supplements that contain aggressive or harmful ingredients.
