SqueakyClean
Hi Jenni/Moondance
I've had the stringy gunk irritated "eyelashes in your eye" before, too.
As far as a saline solution goes, you don't have to buy one, although you can if that's more convenient. You can just put
Sea Salt , real salt or even regular salt in slightly warm water. I like to fill a bowl and immerse my face and then open my eyes and move them around, it's very soothing.
Something that helped me a LOT was putting oil in my eye. The saline solution helps "wash" "rinse" and somewhat sterilize the eyeball. But the oil is a lubricant and is the most soothing, I found. I have used extra virgin olive oil and castor oil and I like the castor oil better. It is thicker and stays in the eye longer, and I felt that the olive oil stung a little. It also relieved the mad itching/irritation. I was wary of using oil when I first heard about it (here at Curezone) but once I tried it I was quickly a believer.
I would suggest that you rinse with salt water and then follow that with a few drops of oil in the irritated eye. If your fingers are clean, you can just put some oil on the tip of your finger, then rub the oil gently along your lower eyelid (then wash your hand).
It would be good to figure out if this is some detox or allergy or irritation, or if it is something like pinkeye (conjunctivitis) as has been suggested. You would need additional attention and care if it were an infection of some sort. I would NOT use pinkeye drops until you have determined that you do, indeed, have pinkeye. Although I don't think it would hurt to put a drop of
Colloidal Silver in your eye, if you have some on hand.
Have fun on your cruise - I believe that there will be someone (a nurse perhaps) onboard who would be able to help you if your eye continues to give you problems.
