This isn't a joke...or even funny...but I wanted to
put it here for those who may want to be an "Encourager"
There's a saying:
There's no better exercise for the heart...than
bending down to lift someone else up!
I believe those words with all my heart...and I've
been given a love and compassion for others that
I am so very grateful for.
My mother-in-law was telling me one day (before she
got sick) that I needed to get a hobby. :-)
I'm a real homebody and just see to our home and family...
study natural healing...do volunteer work at church...
very simple, but rewarding things. I'm not a 'shopper' or
'gad about'. Anyway, our daughter spoke up and said,
"Mom HAS a hobby...it's helping people!" :-)
And I thought...WOW...I guess that IS my hobby...and what
a hobby to have. It's the most rewarding hobby a person
could have...but can be very time consuming. :-)
The Encourager started out as a little one page newsletter...
folded like a book. It's very small...but just absolutely
loaded with encouragement, inspiration, motivation and good
clean humor.
I first did it just for our small country church...but people
immediately started asking for extra issues to give to others...
now, I put out hundreds of them each month...in our stores,
doctors offices, laundraumats, etc. I even made up 3 really extra
funny issues...and sent 6,000 pieces to Iraq at Christmas for
our service people.
At the bottom of the last page of each Encourager...I always put
this statement:
The Encourager's Club: To become a 'member' of "The Encourager's Club"
simply take an extra issue of The Encourager and pass it on to someone
else who needs lifted up. And really, when you stop to think about it...
wouldn't that be ALL of us?
This little paper has just exploded in our little town. Now people are
asking for it in quantities. I'm out of time for this morning...but
will try to start posting the 'text' each month. I wish I knew how to
get the clip art on here...I have gone out of my way to find extra good
and funny clip art, etc...and that really sets the little paper off.
I may even ask Dusan for a forum for The Encourager...might as well...we
have everything else on here. :-)
Anyway...if YOU want to be a member of the Encourager's Club...just copy
and paste and pass the encouragement and humor on to friends. Or even
print it off and mail it to someone you know could use a boost.
And keep in mind...we are just visiting this planet and we're all in it
together...so we might as well make the best of it...and help each other
all we can.
Have a great day! kathryn
