What happens if you stop on a "low"?

MoreI don't feel bad at all--Day 10, and here I am! But I do have sniffles, achy knees, and that pain in my back--sorta floats from place to place--and that pressure under my ribs.
Thing is, I'm almost out of the 3rd qt of syrup and simply cannot afford to buy more at this time. ($20 a qt here for organic ms--is that good, bad, shocking, or pretty usual? That $60 in syrup was the amt I spend on food for one person for the MONTH! :-( )
Anyway, I must stop, and switch to OJ (which is ALSO pricey right now where I am--the oranges, I mean). So is there anything I should do differently? Or do I have "low" wrong?
I DO have enough syrup for maybe a qt of lemonade--does it do any good to have a day split between lemonade and then juice????

MoreThis is a reply to # 745,878My opinion is that it would be OK to stop with the little aches and pains that you are having. It may take longer for these issues to detox themselves out once you start breaking, but your attitude sounds good, and I think that's the most important thing.
The book says that you can also break with grapefruit juice, so maybe that's an option. I've used lemonade during my break. I actually craved the stuff - can you imagine? That's all I was allowed to have for days on end, then when I'm allowed to have something else, I wanted lemonade!! :)
Next time you plan on doing the cleanse, order your syrup online. I just bought from this site (http://store.valuenutrition.com/index.html) and got a half-gallon for 15.63!! And if you spend $100, you get free shipping.

I am VERY proud of myself for the 10 days. Today I was w/ inlaws, altho dh not in town. It was a b-day celebration for me and my sil, both Sept. Anyway, my mil had this AWESOME meal, and I knew I'd have to tell them I was fasting. :-( Talk about food smelling good--man, it smelled wonderful. Wish I coulda brought some home to freeze. And the cake--whipped cream and fresh red raspberried!!! Well, you never know what kind of will power you have until you put it to some kind of test like that--and I passed w/ flying colors!

This is a reply to # 746,075Shipping shouldn't be too bad...the place is in Dublin, OH!! So, it's not far from where you are!
I usually just buy $100 worth of stuff so that I can get free shipping. Most of this is usually syrup...it keeps for a really long time when it is unopened. I've quit using processed White Sugar , so I use maple syrup for most things that I want to sweeten.
You live in a college town, huh? I've got a good guess as to where you are now. Partied down there a few times in my college days! :)

This is a reply to # 746,408YES! I'm sure your guess is correct. I've been down here 20+ years, now--lovely place to live and rear children, but there are a few aspects of the student life that just make one groan--prices being one of them.
Dublin, hmm? We go nawth fairly often, as our families are in central Ahia. Maybe I should just find the place and stop in there!

My family all live in Columbus too. I'm down there at least once a month. I have thought about trying to find the store myself, but I've never made the time to go searching.

This is a reply to # 746,432Yes, it IS lovely, isn't it? Today was GORGEOUS--lovely for a show, but folks were out doing something else instead of spending their money with me--darn.
So you can't be too far from Ohio, if not in the state itself--Fancy that, now, dearie. () Small world, huh? I called Wild Oats to check their price, and there's always Whole Foods Direct, but I figured they'd be more (if anything) than WO--certainly not less. So just the one call.
OK--gotta tidy a bit so dh can walk thru the house without stumbling or tripping when he gets back.
I CAN'T BELIEVE I MADE IT THE WHOLE TIME!!!!! YipppppEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! But I confess: I want FOOD, glorious food! That soup smells soooooooooooooo good...

I went to the Whole Foods on Sawmill Road, and a quart of syrup was $13 (I think). So, if you're in that area, you could go there and check it out. I didn't know there was a Wild Oats...not over in that area much, so it wouldn't be convenient for me anyway.

Do you think there's much diff? I mean, what can one do to a huge maple tree to make it UNorganic--they don't need to be sprayed, etc.??

just like some companies irradiate the cayenne pepper, some companies filter their syrup through formaldahyde, so I prefer organic myself....

And DO look into another source of maple! Try the internet!!! That price is BAD. I tell you, I live in Mexico (fairly far from the source) and pay under $10 for a quart. Unfortunately it is not labeled "organic", but it is what it is. It is also grade A... I have MC'ed on the same stuff many times with no detrimental effects. If you are concerned about extra minerals add molasses occasionally!

$10, huh? Well, I tell ya, I'm in the rural mid-west--SE Ohio, and we're blessed to have a health food store at all. There are places all over here that make ms--it's just that I guess they can get the price. It costs the same (w/in a dollar) in the big healthfood place in Columbus I called, so that's kinda maddening. We're a college town, tho, so they know they have the students over a barrel (so to speak) and LOTS of stuff is high.
I bet I spent close to $80 for this cleanse. The oranges are 79c a piece--and I haven't cracked one yet, so no clue as to how good/juicy they are. The lemons were 2 for $1.49 (altho I found'em once for 2 for 99c--pretty exciting!).
Anyway, I WILL check online, and see what s&h adds to prices.
THANKS SO MUCH for all the help! I can say my sinuses are clearing--I haven't awakened withOUT being stuffy in ages--this is GREAT! And I know about that enhanced sense of smell folks keep talking about. (Made my soup this evening, and boy does IT smell good! My son's snake, however, does NOT smell so hot...)
The main thing is tonight I can't sleep. Well, I did, but got a phone call at 10:45pm (only rang twice, but THINK it was my silly dh) which woke me out of totally sound sleep, and I haven't been able to get BACK to sleep. My eyes hurt, and I feel "buzzed"--really, like I'm on pain meds or something. :-( Very, very tired, but can't seem to get back to sleep. I have an art show tomorrow, and with dh not here, set-up is all on my shoulders--I am gonna be one exhausted chick, let me tell you.

This is a reply to # 746,079I love that story! All of us have that same olfactory phenomenon... I've had to move away from people in public due to strange odors! But food. Ah, food! Just yank a plate right out from under somebody's nose and give it a good WHIFFFFF!!
What a horror story about your shopping! Man, your cost of living must be stupidly high! I hope you can find a better source of maple on the net. I bet Harry and David could beat those fruit prices!!!! Jeeeez!

This is a reply to # 746,301JUST back from art show--barely made the cost of my fast!!! Tee hee hee GORGEOUS weather--folks musta been out biking or something, 'cause they surely weren't where we were. OH, well.
Klumbus has zillions of groceries, of course, but we're 2 hrs from there. We have 2 "cheap" food stoves, but neither has oranges right now. The only place that does is the "real" grocery store. And my 9 oranges made me a qt plus about a cup and a half. So that got me through today--barely. I'll be going back tonight for more for tomorrow, but I am REAAAALY looking forward to the soup! So up that fast cost to closer to $85 or so. :-(
My back feels like it's breaking in two. Part is the crummy chair I was in all day, and part the loading and unloading and loading the van with no dh to help. Part may also be not enuf water. I drank a huge glass of water as soon as I got home...shoulda had more while I was out, but I honestly didn't feel either thirsty or hungry so didn't even think of it. (Managed to send the kids for Chinese for their lunch and it smelled loverly.) I'm having the rest of the OJ I had fixed, and more water, and then will go out and get more oranges. I MAY just eat an orange later, if that won't horrify my body.

This is a reply to # 746,435Well you did just GREAT! Resisting Chinese food had to be a tremendous effort on your part--nothing smells better, huh? Just TOAST drives me nuts! I don't have the urge to eat it, but smelling it is literally like tasting it. So weird.
I live on southern Baja, and we used to have to drive 2 hours for basics like toilet paper. I would get up once a month or so and stock up--it's insulting to overpay for TP! We still have to do The Drive if we wanna buy exotic things like underwear!
That back pain can definitely be stressed kidneys. Drink LOTS of extra water and flush those puppies out!
